ZTE increased revenues by almost 22% in the first half of 2015, fuelled by the rollout of 4G networks.

The Chinese vendor generated 45.94 billion yuan (€6.8 billion) in revenues in the six months to the end of June, an increase of 21.9% on-year, it announced in a preliminary results statement on Tuesday.

Like domestic rival Huawei, which on Monday announced a 30% first-half revenue uptick, ZTE cited 4G as a growth driver. Specifically, it said it grew revenue from sales of FDD-based LTE network systems, as well as from wireline equipment.

"Revenue in the Enterprise and Government ICT Solutions division also posted growth, driven by new smart city deployments and higher sales to rail operators," ZTE said.

ZTE reported a 43% increase in net profit in the first half to CNY1.61 billion (€239 million).
