Samsung and Telefonica partner for German vRAN site

This week, Samsung and O2 Telefonica have announced the launch of their first German virtualised RAN (vRAN) and Open RAN commercial site in Landsberg am Lech, Bavaria. It is the first time that Samsung’s 5G vRAN has been used in a German commercial network.

Three deploys UK’s first open ran small cell in Glasgow, but says UK Govt Open RAN targets ‘not a priority’

Three UK is seeking to tackle urban network congestion in Glasgow by deploying over 50 small cells throughout the city. The project, which will take 15 months to implement, will see 51 small cells deployed around the city of Glasgow to cope with the huge rise in consumer data consumption since the launch of its 5G services in 2019.

DISH awarded $50 million NTIA grant for Open RAN testing

Parallel Wireless Open RAN deployment bolsters Africa’s connectivity

To achieve this, the company partnered with various regional telecommunications providers and governments in countries including Nigeria, Tanzania, Guinea, Ghana, South Sudan, Uganda, DRC, and Malawi to deploy hybrid networks that are tailored to the differing needs of each country.
