iPass has announced that AlwaysOn, the largest Wi-Fi provider in South Africa, will be using the iPass SmartConnect Software Development Kit (SDK) to offer customers free access to 44 million Wi-Fi hotspots, located in airports, airplanes, hotels and other public areas worldwide.
AlwaysOn is a subsidiary of Dimension Data and owns more than 2,500 hotspots across South Africa, which are already part of the iPass network. Using the iPass SDK, AlwaysOn is building a new branded application that will provide its customers with simple and secure global Wi-Fi access. By adding the iPass network to its domestic Wi-Fi offering, AlwaysOn will provide greater value to its subscribers and further differentiate itself in a competitive communications market.
