Colt on Tuesday launched its European Supercore, a long-distance network that provides sufficient capacity for bandwidth-hungry enterprises.

The network connects major cities across Central and Western Europe: Amsterdam, Berlin, Brussels, Dublin, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg, London, Munich, Paris, Stuttgart, Vienna and Zurich. It has been designed to support rapid provisioning of 100 Gigabit Ethernet (100GE) services for bandwidth-intensive industries such as media and cloud providers.

"The European Supercore network is the latest demonstration of Colt’s commitment to address our customers’ fast-growing data demands in the major hubs that matter to them," said Zhongmin Guo, vice president of strategy and business development at Colt’s network services division.

Colt said the network will enable media companies to deliver vast amounts of content on-demand to smart TVs and mobile devices. It will also offer the level of capacity needed by cloud providers to meet enterprises’ bandwidth requirements.

"Thanks to our drive to innovate and investments such as the European Supercore, we can offer customers a consistent, reliable and future-proof service," Guo said.

The network is available to Colt customers with immediate effect.
