Cyprus incumbent says it is committed to Cyta Hellas, plans launch of new products and services.

Cyta this week committed its future to Greece, denying recent reports that it is looking to sell out of the market.

"Cyta Hellas adds strength to the overall value of the Cyta group and is a strategic investment in the Greek telecommunications market," the Cyprus-based telco said, in a statement.

Cyta is primarily a fixed-line player in Greece with its own fibre network, offering telephony, broadband and TV services, but it also operates as an MVNO. The company claims to have 300,000 subscribers.

The company’s comments about its future in Greece come in response to a number of press reports in recent weeks that claimed a sale of the business could be on the cards.

"Any business interest shown in Cyta Hellas demonstrates the value of the company," Cyta said.

It confirmed that it has not undertaken any process that could lead to a sale of Cyta Hellas and noted that it is working on a five-year business plan for it.

"The Cyta group supports Cyta Hellas in bringing to market new services in Greece and soon there will be announcements that will cause sensation," it said.
