The growing desire of consumers to buy multiple telecoms and TV services from the same provider was evident in the second quarter results announcement published by Nos this week.
The Portuguese operator reported positive net customer additions across its business, including at its pa y TV segment, where net adds grew year-on-year for the first time since Q4 2012.
Overall net adds in revenue-generating units (RGUs) came in at 248,400, up from 80,300 in the year-ago quarter, driven by the mobile business, which reported net adds of 130,800, for the most part postpaid customers.
Total RGUs stood at 8.01 million at the end of June, including 3.86 million mobile connections.
"The main driver of the positive performance continues to be the convergent value proposition," Nos said, in a statement.
"By the end of Q2 2015, Nos had 509,800 customers subscribing to convergent bundles, 2.5x more than at the end of Q2 2014," it said, adding that 34% of its pay TV base and 37% of fixed access customers are taking converged services.
Total convergent RGUs grew by 142.5% year-on-year to 2.44 million, representing an average of 4.8 RGUs per unique customer," it said.
As customer numbers grew, so did revenues.
Nos generated operating revenues of €355.9 million in Q2, up 3.2% on-year and up 3.4% sequentially.
EBITDA was up by 3.6% compared with Q2 2014 to €138.5 million, while net income expanded by 30.7% to €24.1 million.
Nos was created two years ago from the merger of pay TV provider Zon and mobile operator Optimus. It adopted its current brand last year.
