Ericsson opened what it calls a Cloud Lab in Aachen, Germany on Tuesday, which it claims will accelerate the development of new virtual and cloud services.
The Swedish kit maker invited enterprises and operator customers to collaborate in technology demos, testing, verification, and even live deployments of new services.
"By developing these cloud solutions in cooperation with our customers, we will provide them the opportunity to speed up the deployment of cloud technology. This means we will more quickly experience the benefits of cloud, such as shorter time to market for new services within Internet of Things for example, and a more agile IT infrastructure," said Valter D’Avino, head of western and central Europe at Ericsson, in a statement.
Unsurprisingly the Cloud Lab will be based on Ericsson’s cloud portfolio, including its HDS 8000 data centre hardware, and its infrastructure as a service (IaaS) and platform as a service (PaaS) offerings, among others.
Tuesday’s announcement came a day after Ericsson signed its latest 5G memorandum of understanding (MoU), this time with Turkcell.
The agreement covers the development of 5G use cases and deployment scenarios, among others.
