Telco’s former UK consumer director Cindy Rose to take over from Michel Van der Bel from November.
Microsoft this week named the former head of Vodafone UK’s consumer business as chief executive of its U.K. operation.
Cindy Rose will be responsible for all of the software giant’s product, service and support offerings across the U.K.
"I’m thrilled to be joining Microsoft and to be asked to lead the U.K. business at such an opportune moment in the company’s history and [at] such an unprecedented moment in the country’s history," Rose said, in a statement on Thursday.
"I’m excited by the possibilities of our mission: to empower every person and organisation on the planet to achieve more and [I] look forward to working closely with our customers, partners and employees to do just that," she said.
Rose quit her job at Vodafone in March after two-and-a-half years. Her former duties now fall within the remit of Glafkos Persianis, who was promoted from Vodafone Greece CEO to the newly-created role of commercial director.
She officially joins Microsoft today; however, she will take over from her predecessor Michel Van der Bel on 1 November.
"Over the next few months Michel will work alongside Cindy, to ensure we have a smooth transition of leadership and continue to drive our business forwards," said Jean-Philippe Courtois, president of Microsoft International, who added that Van der Bel "has been an inspiring leader of Microsoft UK" over the past four years.
"He can be justifiably proud of the organisation he has led and I look forward to announcing his next role in the near future," he said.
