Connected Britain 2016 was a resounding success with an amazing line up of speakers and great turnout of attendees. Total Telecom TV was there to speak with some of the speakers and sponsors about key themes and their experiences of the event.
Headline speaker was government minister Ed Vaizey who spared us a few minutes after his speech:
Paul Buttery, COO, Virgin Media was another great speaker and talked to us about how Virgin are enlisting the support of the customer to determine priorities for enabling the digital future.
Whilst Nokia’s Cormac Whelan drove home the message of how the network infrastructure in the UK drives the economy of UK PLC. He also spoke about how we can make IoT a reality.
Alt-nets were well represented at #ConnectedBritain and Hyperoptics Dana Tobak was amongst the most outspoken talking about fibre all the way as she said "we’d love to see a Gigabit Britain".
An alternative view to connect the final 5% was offered by Mike Locke of Satellite Internet.
Ordnance Survey were arguably one of the more unusual participants at Connected Britain, and here Ben Nduva of OS explains why the geographic issues should not be overlooked when it comes to rolling out networks.
5G was a hot topic for discussion, and Terry Flannighan of WHP was one of those deeply involved in it’s deployment and implementation.
And of course we shouldn’t forget about the vendors who joined us, and we were lucky enough to speak with Emtelle, Huber+Suhner and OpticReach, all of whom exhibited at the event.
