Under the partnership, ielo provides Megaport with optical transport capacity between its key points of presence in France.

These connections run over ielo’s fibre network, which connects nearly 200 data centres across France and spans more than 22,000 km of metropolitan fibre networks, interconnected by a 12,000 km national backbone.

Built to the latest technology standards, ielo’s next-generation network features a consistent architecture and a standardised deployment model, designed to optimise network operations and performance. As a neutral infrastructure provider in France, ielo meets the requirements of organisations operating large-scale networks, such as Megaport, including route diversity, high-capacity and scalable connectivity, and reliable deployment timelines.

“Megaport’s decision to use our infrastructure is a real recognition of the quality of our network and the work of our teams. This is exactly what we do: build and operate high-performance, highly available and resilient infrastructure that our customers can rely on to support their own networks. The partnership also brings together our expertise in fibre infrastructure in France and Megaport’s international connectivity capabilities, opening up new opportunities for collaboration.” Arthur Fernandez, CEO of ielo.

Complementary expertise in connectivity

ielo already provides optical transport services that enable customers to interconnect with data centres, Internet Exchange Points (IXPs) and cloud providers across France and Europe.

Megaport, meanwhile, operates a global infrastructure platform that enables on-demand connections between data centres, networks and cloud environments. With a presence in more than 1,200 data centres across 180 cities and 31 countries, Megaport enables connections to be provisioned in minutes, with bandwidth that can be adjusted on demand.

Together, these complementary capabilities create opportunities for further collaboration between the two companies, particularly in international connectivity.

“Global connectivity starts with strong local infrastructure, and that’s what makes this partnership valuable. ielo gives us a strong infrastructure foundation in France, while Megaport gives their customers a simple way to extend beyond the local market and connect on a global scale.” Emmanuel Sevray, Vice President of Sales, Megaport.

The partnership brings together ielo’s fibre infrastructure expertise in France and neighbouring European markets with the global reach of Megaport’s platform. It highlights how their respective infrastructure and capabilities can complement one another to support the wider connectivity ecosystem.

About ielo

ielo is a neutral and independent French fibre infrastructure operator that designs and operates its own end-to-end fibre network. Built for operators, data centres and public-sector organisations, its infrastructure is made available to customers as an extension of their own networks.

Formed in 2016 through the merger of two companies founded by professionals from the Internet and open-source communities, ielo accelerated its growth in 2020 following a significant funding round.

In 2026, ielo’s network spans more than 22,000 km of metropolitan fibre and 12,000 km of long-haul fibre, connecting nearly 200 data centres across France. Designed, deployed and maintained in-house, this consistent, next-generation infrastructure is built to deliver the highest levels of availability.
