Tell us about your startup: Who do you sell to? What do you offer?
MobileMap provides Staff Experience and Knowledge for designing today’s fibre networks & all outside plant infrastructures and systems. We have worked in traditional Telecom, wireless, electric, CATV, transportation and all areas where outside data collection and design are essential to network integrity. Our use of Software and Technology improves deliverables and increases productivity. Our Project Management Team is professional and dedicated to delivering to our client’s high-quality Data & Design Solutions.
What is your USP?
What sets us apart is our staff; We train and develop our staff so that they excel in all aspects of OSP/Fibre Design. MobileMap dedicates resources to giving our staff opportunities to learn and grow; from going out in the field and seeing firsthand the OSP/Fibre networks to providing in-house training on multiple software platforms. Our staff can pivot from various projects seamlessly, allowing us to support a variety of projects at any time.
What is your relationship with the telecom sector? (customer, route to market, etc)
MobileMap provides our services directly and indirectly to the Tier 1 & Tier 2 Markets.
For the Tier 1 markets we typically work as a subcontractor to a Primary Vendor.
For the Tier 2 markets we work directly with the clients.
How have you got to your current stage of development? (role of accelerators, partners, etc)
MobileMap started primarily working as a subcontractor for clients we had established relationships with prior to starting the company. Recently we have expanded our client list mostly using our relationships in the telecom sector.
Why did you establish the business?
Originally, we worked for a larger primary vendor, and over time the ‘red tape’ and ‘roadblocks’ within those companies grew and set off the idea to begin our own company. We began with the confidence that our comprehension of OSP/Fiber Design and our relationships with decision makers in the Tier 1 market would give us opportunities in the telecom sector. Our approach was simple: get the work; do the work; repeat.
Who inspired you? Do you have a mentor?
Our inspiration was mostly internal. As with any risky venture we had the support of our families.
What does the future hold for your business?
In most recent years we have increased our sales by double and we expect to do the same in 2024. By focusing on building a strong foundation of services, we expect MobileMap to expand its reach into new areas of the country. Also, with the increase in fibre builds due to BEAD and Rural Broadband programs, we anticipate higher demand for our services from existing and new clients.
