Finnish vendor finalises acquisition of U.S.-cable infrastructure firm in under two months.
Nokia on Monday announced that it has completed the acquisition of Gainspeed, the U.S.-based cable infrastructure company it agreed to purchase less than two months ago.
It did not share the value of the deal, nor any further details of the terms of the acquisition.
Gainspeed, which was founded in 2012 and employs 70 people, will become part of Nokia’s fixed networks business group.
"With this acquisition, Nokia is able to offer a turnkey solution for the cable industry that includes products for routing, transport, wireless and analytics," the Finnish vendor said, in a brief statement.
Gainspeed specialises in distributed access architecture. Its flagship offering is its Virtual Converged Cable Access Platform (CCAP), which enables cable operators to migrate from analogue headends to digital, all-IP infrastructure, saving on power, space and cost, and increasing network capacity.
Its virtual CCAP solutions will enhance Nokia’s product portfolio and provide cable operators with the technology capabilities they need to meet growing capacity requirements, Nokia said.
