Finnish vendor to provide range of network management and support services covering telco’s fixed and mobile infrastructure.

Nokia on Tuesday extended its managed services deal with Telefonica Germany.

The Finnish vendor was already providing managed services to mobile operator E-Plus when it was acquired by Telefonica in 2014. From this September, that deal will be expanded to include network management tools and processes for Telefonica Germany’s entire mobile access and core networks, as well as its fixed-line infrastructure.

"Leveraging Nokia’s expertise as a managed services supplier across our entire network will allow us to simplify operations and enhance performance and quality, allowing us to concentrate on delivering an outstanding subscriber experience across Germany," said Cayetano Carbajo Martín, CTO of Telefonica Germany, in a statement.

Under the deal, Nokia will also provide level one and level two technical support, which includes real-time monitoring, preventative maintenance, incident resolution, and change management support. Nokia will also provide local management expertise in Germany.

"We have already proven our managed services expertise and experience with the management of the E-Plus network," said J. Carlos Sampedro, head of Nokia’s Telefonica Germany team. "Working with Telefonica we can swiftly centralise support and ensure the highest level of network availability and quality."
