O2 UK this week launched an unlimited cloud storage service that enables customers to stream their music and videos to any device.

Called Store & Share, the service is available only to O2 customers, and costs £5 per month for unlimited storage or £2 per month for 32 GB. Alternatively, customers can have 8 GB for free.

As is becoming the norm with cloud storage services, O2 Store & Share doesn’t just store files, it can also be used to stream music and video from the cloud to any device.

"Customers are storing more and more meaningful content on their devices," said Nina Bibby, O2 UK’s marketing and consumer director, in a statement on Wednesday. "We are launching O2 Store & Share to offer our customers the peace of mind that we will protect the data they store, and that they will be able to access it wherever and whenever they choose."

It is worth noting that ‘wherever and whenever’ applies provided the user remains an O2 customer, which might make Store & Share a harder sell compared to the likes of DropBox, Google Drive, Apple iCloud, or Microsoft OneDrive, for example.

One U.K. telco, Vodafone, saw which way the wind was blowing and took the decision in July to stop offering its in-house cloud storage service, aptly-titled Vodafone Cloud. Instead, Vodafone now bundles DropBox storage with its mobile ta riffs.
