Combes claims French mobile operator is being led by a management ‘dream team’.

SFR on Monday named experienced telecoms executive Michel Paulin as its new chief executive.

Paulin replaces Eric Denoyer, who moved upstairs earlier this month as part of a reshuffle designed to strengthen the operator’s position in the high-speed broadband and content markets.

Michel Combes, chairman of the SFR board and chief operating officer of its parent company Altice, has been acting CEO in the interim.

On Monday Combes declared himself "proud and happy" to announce Paulin’s appointment.

SFR now has a leadership "dream team," he insisted. That team’s "wealth of experience and in-depth knowledge of the telecoms market in France and overseas, as much on the fixed-line side as in mobile, will enable SFR to accelerate its aim to become the market leader in superfast broadband and content," Combes said, in a French language statement.

Paulin previously served as CEO of Morocco’s Meditel and has previous ties with SFR, having played a key role in its 2008 merger with his then employer, fixed-line operator Neuf Cegetel. He began his telecoms career with France Telecom, and has also worked in a variety of consulting roles.
