Slovenian operators complete merger process, look ahead to converged service offerings.
Slovenia’s Si.mobil has officially taken over fixed broadband and TV provider Amis, but said it will retain the brands of both companies.
"The legal process of merging Amis with Si.mobil has been completed successfully," Si.mobil announced late last week.
Si.mobil parent Telekom Austria announced the acquisition of Amis, for an undisclosed price, 10 months ago. The Austrian incumbent’s Croatian arm Vipnet took control of Amis’s operations in Croatia in September and now the Slovenian business has followed suit.
The acquisition of Amis gives Si.mobil a presence in the fixed-line market for the first time.
The telco explained that it will continue to use the Amis brand for fixed-line telephony, broadband Internet and TV services. It added that its association with the Amis name will strengthen its position in the market and enable it to develop integrated services.
"The merger brings us the opportunity to exchange knowledge and jointly develop even better solutions that will truly benefit users," said Si.mobil executive manager Bostjan Kosak.
The merged entity will bring a breath of fresh air to the Slovenian market, operating as a "strong, reliable and competitive provider of converged services," he said.
