Regulator AKOS makes 15 MHz of paired spectrum available via public auction.

Slovenia’s telecom regulator has called on interested parties to submit applications for the sale of spectrum in the 1800 MHz and 2.1 GHz bands.

The country’s Agency for Communication Networks and Services, known locally as AKOS, has set a deadline of 4 July for applications to take part in the auction process.

There are 15 MHz of paired spectrum up for grabs: 2×10 MHz in the 1800 MHz band and 2×5 MHz in the 2.1 GHz band.

In a document published on its Website late last week, AKOS set out the financial, technical and other conditions that would-be bidders must satisfy, as well as rules on collusion and cross-ownership. However, the winners will be decided based on what they are willing to pay for the frequencies.

Each 2×5 MHz block of 1800-MHz spectrum carries a reserve price of €2.6 million, while the single block of 2.1-GHz airwaves has a starting price of €1.3 million.

In order for the auction to go ahead, the regulator requires at least two qualified bidders. Companies have until 14 July to submit their applications.
