Operator targets nationwide 4G+ coverage by end of the summer.
T-Mobile Netherlands announced on Monday that its LTE-Advanced network will go live on Wednesday.
The operator claimed that its 4G+ service will be available to 76% of the population from launch, and will be rolled out nationwide by the end of the summer. The LTE-A network combines spectrum in the 900-MHz and 1800-MHz bands.
According to T-Mobile Netherlands’ Website, 4G customers will be able to access its 4G+ service at no extra cost.
"Mobile data traffic is growing exponentially. This requires a lot of speed and capacity of mobile networks," said Iskos Lampros, director of technology at T-Mobile Netherlands, in a statement.
T-Mobile Netherlands said the average speed of its 4G network is 40 Mbps. With the advent of LTE-A, the company said the average connection speed will increase by up to 50%.
Wednesday’s launch will see T-Mobile become the fourth operator in the Netherlands to roll out LTE-A.
Incumbent telco KPN and Vodafone both launched LTE-A in the Netherlands in September 2014, while Tele2 launched LTE-A in November 2015.
