CK Hutchison and EQT scrap Wind Tre network infra deal

In May last year, CK Hutchison announced it was carving out the fixed and mobile assets of its Italian operator WindTre, aiming to sell 60% of the newly formed company to Swedish infrastructure fund EQT.

Rogers prepares to lock out unionised workers ahead of strike

Having been in negotiations since February, two months ago around 300 former Shaw technicians voted 99.6% in favour of a striking over fears of job security, saying that they were increasingly being replaced by contractors.

“It’s not like the work has disappeared,” said Jayson Little, spokesperson for the United Steelworkers union, which represents the workers. “They’ve just started to rely more and more on contractors to do that work.”

Zegona preparing to take majority stake in Vodafone Spain

Late last month, European telecoms investment firm Zegona Communications confirmed that it had entered negotiations with Vodafone to acquire a full or partial stake in Vodafone Spain. At the time, negotiations were notably in the early stages, with Zegona also in discussions with a consortium of banks to secure funding for the potential purchase.

Now, according to anonymous sources speaking to Bloomberg, negotiations are close to reaching a positive conclusion, with Zegona set to buy a stake of at least 50% in Vodafone Espana.
