Guillaume van Gaver to oversee operator’s businesses in Austria, Croatia, Germany, the Baltics, Kazakhstan.
Tele2 on Monday appointed former Orange and EE executive Guillaume van Gaver to head up its international operations.
As executive vice president, international, at Tele2, van Gaver will oversee the company’s operations in Austria, the Baltics, Croatia, Germany and Kazakhstan. He will take up the role on 5 July, reporting to CEO Allison Kirkby.
"I am very happy to be able to welcome Guillaume to the Tele2 family. He is a proven telecoms leader, with many years of experience from different markets and companies in the industry, showcasing great results," Kirkby said.
Van Gaver currently serves as director of Connected World Services (CWS) Europe, a B2B services provider owned by Carphone Warehouse that was created by the restructuring of Carphone’s European operations.
Before that, he spent a year as vice president of marketing at BT-owned EE. Before the formation of EE, van Gaver had been in charge of sales and loyalty at Orange UK.
"Tele2’s challenger profile is very attractive to me and I am thrilled to be joining such a strong value driven company. I believe I can build from my experience to deliver strong success with the local team in their respective markets," van Gaver said.
Meanwhile, Lars Torstensson, Tele2’s executive vice president of new growth and strategy, has resigned.
"I want to thank Lars for many great contributions during his 10 years with the company. He has been a true ambassador for ‘the Tele2 way’ and I have personally enjoyed working with him, both as a colleague and a friend," Kirkby said.
Torstensson will leave the company in mid-November to take up a new role at cloud printing specialist Gelato.
"I have had a truly fantastic time at Tele2 and I want to thank all my teammates," Torstensson said. "When I was offered to become part of the management team at Gelato, I felt that this was a great opportunity for me to experience the digital transformation in a new and different context – innovating the printing industry."
