Tele2 on Monday announced that top executive Joachim Horn is leaving th e company to take on a new role at an Asian telecoms company.

Horn, who has served as executive vice president and CTIO of Tele2 since he joined the company in August 2011, has yet to divulge the identity of his new employer.

"I truly enjoyed my time at Tele2 and I’m glad I was able to contribute to the company’s success," Horn said in a statement.

Tele2 said Niklas Sonkin, its Central Europe and Eurasia president, will take on the role of acting CTIO. The firm made no comment with regard to a permanent replacement for Horn.

Prior to joining Tele2 Horn spent two years as group CTO for India’s Bharti Airtel, having previously served as CTO of T-Mobile International and T-Mobile in Germany.

He currently chairs the board of directors at Net4Mobility, a Swedish mobile joint venture between Tele2 and Telenor.
