Deal extends Spanish incumbent’s LTE roaming reach by 10%.
Telefonica’s B2B arm, Telefonica Business Solutions, on Tuesday struck an IPX deal with BICS that will help the operator to extend LTE roaming to new markets.
"Through its leading IPX platform, BICS is facilitating a fast and easy rollout of LTE, seamless 2G/3G/4G roaming experiences, and interoperability with other networks," the Spanish incumbent said in a statement.
Telefonica’s LTE roaming footprint covers 230 countries. Its partnership with BICS will enable the telco to increase its coverage by 10%.
The partnership will also "guarantee…end–to-end quality of service (QoS) within a private IP environment," Telefonica said.
Tuesday’s deal follows a similar IPX agreement that Telefonica signed with TeliaSonera International Carrier in February.
