Australian telco buys managed and professional services company.
Telstra on Thursday announced the acquisition of Kloud, a managed services and consulting firm that helps business customers move applications into the cloud.
The Australian operator did not disclose the value of the transaction, which is scheduled to close towards the end of February.
Telstra and Kloud have worked together for a number of years, but now the telco is keen to bring its partner into the fold.
"Kloud’s expertise can make it even easier for our customers to transition their workloads and applications to the cloud," said Michelle Bendschneider, executive director of global enterprise and services at Telstra.
"Kloud will enhance Telstra’s consulting-led capabilities by expanding our professional and managed services, complementing recent acquisitions such as NSC, O2 Networks and Bridgepoint," she added.
Kloud is based in Australia but operates elsewhere in the Asia-Pacific region, predominantly in Singapore. In addition to employing staff in Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide, it also has an office in Manilla. It has around 80 customers, including businesses and government customers.
"The potential for our people, our customers and partners was clear to see," said Kloud managing director Nicki Bowers.
"We have watched and worked closely with Telstra in their move into ICT services and are keen to become a more integral part of it," she said.
