Australian incumbent invites students, start-ups, MNCs to new Melbourne lab to develop products, services.
Telstra on Tuesday opened a new lab that brings together its tech and innovation capabilities, as the telco seeks to grow the IoT ecosystem.
Called Telstra Labs, the Melbourne-based facility is open to multinationals, start-ups, and university students who want to tap Telstra’s network, technology, and expertise to develop and test new products and services.
It also lays claim to Australia’s first publicly-accessible GSMA Open IoT Lab.
"Anyone can come to create, test and prototype IoT solutions. We have everything you need, both software and hardware, and it’s open to all," said Telstra’s CTO Hakan Eriksson, in a blog post.
According to an iTNews report, the lab is equipped with drones, wearable technology, testing and diagnostics tools, and a 3D printer.
People can even play around on Cat-M1 and NB-IoT test networks.
"Whatever IoT device you can dream of, we can help you make it real," Eriksson said.
