Telstra has reorganised its senior management, promoting three executives to new roles that report directly to CEO Andrew Penn.
The most significant change sees Karsten Wildberger become group executive of retail, overseeing the Australian incumbent’s consumer, business, product, and digital divisions. He was previously in charge of Telstra’s consumer and products businesses.
In a statement on Friday, Telstra said Wildberger’s new portfolio "represents a significant portion of the company’s revenue and profit."
Meanwhile, Cynthia Whelan, Telstra’s group managing director of strategic finance and its international division, has been named group exec utive of international and new business.
She will be responsible for driving the telco’s growth in new verticals, including healthcare, start-ups, and smart home, as well as its international business.
Finally, Joe Pollard, who currently serves as group managing director of media and marketing, will retain her current responsibilities as the company’s new chief marketing officer.
The new appointments are effective immediately.
"Karsten, Cynthia and Joe are outstanding executives who have already made significant contributions to our growth ambitions and will take even larger roles in this new structure," said Telstra CEO Andrew Penn.
Penn himself has only been in the top job since the beginning of May; he was named chief executive of Telstra in February after predecessor David Thodey announced plans to retire.
