The Institute of Telecommunications Professionals (ITP), the leading professional body in the telecommunications industry, is proud to announce the launch of the Telecoms ICT Career Framework, a pioneering initiative led in partnership with DSIT, Ofcom and UKTIN to revolutionise the career pathways within the sector.

The framework comes as a response to the industry’s need for a comprehensive guide that outlines clear routes into and throughout the sector. Despite the industry’s rapid evolution and growth, a standardised framework tailored to telecoms roles has been lacking until now.

“We are thrilled to introduce the Telecoms ICT Career Framework, a milestone achievement made possible by the dedication and collaboration of industry experts, contributors and supporters,” said Charlotte Goodwill, CEO at the ITP. “This represents a significant step forward in providing clarity and guidance to professionals seeking to navigate their careers within the evolving telecoms landscape.”

The framework is designed to evolve and adapt over time, reflecting the ever-changing nature of the industry and incorporating feedback from industry members. This ongoing collaborative effort ensures that the framework remains relevant and responsive to the evolving needs of telecoms professionals.

“We recognise that the career framework is a living document that relies on the engagement and input of our members and the broader industry” added Charlotte. “We encourage individuals working in telecoms roles to come forward and share their insights, experiences and expertise to further enhance and refine the framework to better serve the needs of our industry.”

As part of this initiative, The ITP is inviting individuals working in telecoms roles to contribute job details and short “day in the life” videos to be included in the framework. These videos will provide invaluable insights into the realities of working in various telecoms positions, offering aspiring professionals a first-hand glimpse into the diverse opportunities available within the industry.

This initiative has been endorsed by a number of leading industry players including: Ofcom, DSIT, BT Group, Vorboss, Openreach, UKTIN Cluttons, Cornerstone, Ogi, WM5G Satellite Applications Catapult, UKTL and more.
