Telecom Italia unveils the new logo that accompanies its decision to rebrand all retail operations as TIM.
Telecom Italia on Wednesday unveiled a new logo to accompany the unification of its retail operations under the TIM brand.
The Italian incumbent started offering all of its fixed, Internet and mobile services under the TIM umbrella last year. It formally made the move in mid-July, on the 20th anniversary of the launch of Telecom Italia Mobile (TIM) as its mobile arm.
The rebrand was in line with the trend towards converged and bundled services in Europe. Telecom Italia said that the change to TIM allowed it to simplify its brand architecture and the relationship with its customers.
It restyled its retail Website http://www.tim.it and renamed its retail outlets.
The new logo is evolution rather than revolution. The company has retained its white lettering on a blue background, and has swapped its wavy red lines for straight lines that create a ‘T’ shape.
"Today, we are celebrating an important step in the renewal of our corporate identity," said Telecom Italia’s group CEO Marco Patuano, in a statement.
"As from today, we will combine the best of TIM and Telecom Italia with a new logo that also marks an important change in the redefinition of our role: from pure telephone operator to an industrial and technological player able to offer innovative products and services through the development of enabling platforms: from fixed and mobile ultrabroadband networks to cloud computing through to new generation information technology," Patuano said.
Telecom Italia also shared plans for a new TIM central office building in Rome.
The telco has retained the Telecom Italia name as its corporate identity.
