Vodafone Europe CEO Philipp Humm will leave the company later this year as part of a management restructure announced on Tuesday.
The chief executives of Vodafone’s four largest European markets – Hannes Ametsreiter in Germany, Aldo Bisio in Italy, Jeroen Hoencamp in the U.K., and Antonio Coimbra in Spain – will join the telco’s group executive committee and will report directly to group chief executive Vittorio Colao.
In addition, Rob Shuter, CEO of Vodafone Netherlands will also join the executive committee and be put in charge of Vodafone’s smaller European markets. He too will answer directly to Colao.
With this management shuffle, Humm’s role as go-between has effectively been nullified.
"I would like to thank Phil ipp for his significant contribution to Vodafone including leading the recovery in our European businesses and the strategic acquisition and integration of large fixed-line businesses in the U.K., Spain and Germany," said Colao.
Humm joined Vodafone from T-Mobile US – where he served as chief executive – in June 2012 and took up his role as CEO of the company’s northern European markets and Turkey.
"I fully understand his desire to pursue his career ambitions outside Vodafone in light of the new organisation and wish him all the best for the future," said Colao.
