Vodafone on Friday extended its partner market agreement with MTS, a deal that will see Vodafone-branded 3G services roll out in Ukraine.

The U.K.-based telco will also introduce its own price plans, long-distance calling tariffs and roaming offers.

Meanwhile, MTS will be able to leverage Vodafone’s expertise when it comes to network operation and optimisation, as well as the introduction of new services such as mobile music and gaming, among others.

"MTS Ukraine is building a high quality 3G network, which means Vodafone will launch in a strong posi tion in the market," said Stefano Gastaut, CEO of Vodafone Partner Markets, in a statement.

The companies first established a partner market agreement in 2008, giving MTS access to services and devices from Vodafone for both the consumer and enterprise markets.

"Our deeper co-operation in the business – signified by the introduction of the Vodafone brand – will bring additional benefits to consumers and businesses as we focus on a successful launch of 3G data services and greater adoption of the mobile Internet," said Gastaut on Friday.

Vodafone said the launch of Vodafone-branded 3G services, which includes rebranding MTS’s retail outlets, will commence in the coming months. The telco said its brand will not be used in areas of the country currently not under direct control of the Ukrainian government.
