Zain on Sunday named company veteran Eaman Al Roudhan as CEO of Zain Kuwait, effective 1 December.

Al Roudhan joined the Kuwaiti telco in 1998, and has held a number of senior management positions at its domestic arm, as well as at several Zain Group affiliates, namely Bahrain, Iraq, Lebanon and Saudi Arabia. Prior to her new role, Al Roudhan was chief regulatory officer.

"With Mrs Al Roudhan’s distinguished record and strong background in regulatory affairs, mobile technology, strategy and management, I have every confidence she is the right person to take Zain Kuwait to the next level in solidifying its market leadership," said Zain Group CEO Scott Gegenheimer, in a statement.

"I am honored to be given this prime opportunity to continue my rewarding journey with Zain," Al Roudhan said. "As the flagship operation of the group, Zain Kuwait is deeply entrenched in the telecom, economic and social landscape in the country. I feel a strong sense of responsibility to continue working closely with the Z ain Group board and executive management as well as the highly talented Zain Kuwait team to maintain the mobile operation’s high standards."

Al Roudhan replaces Omar Al Omar, who has served as Zain Kuwait CEO for 11 years. He will take on a senior advisory role at group level.

Gegenheimer thanked Al Omar for his hard work.

"Through his efforts since becoming CEO, Zain Kuwait has substantially increased its customer base as well as maintained its position as the most efficient and profitable operation in the group. Although he will be missed at an operational [level], we are very happy to have him joining us at the group level, and for our other mobile operations to benefit from his vast experience and expertise," he said.
