Press Release
Accedian, a leading provider of end-to-end network performance management solutions, today announced it has been placed by Gartner, Inc. in the 2018 Gartner Magic Quadrant For Network Performance Monitoring and Diagnostics[1], marking Accedian’s first ever inclusion in the flagship industry report.
The company is cited in the Quadrant as “Accedian (Performance Vision)”.
Performance Vision (PV), a leader in network and application performance management (NPM/APM), was recently acquired by Accedian to bring advanced end-user digital experience monitoring capabilities to Accedian’s existing customer base. The acquisition also expands Accedian’s addressable market to key enterprise segments including banking, insurance, healthcare, manufacturing, and cloud services.
Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for Network Performance Monitoring and Diagnostics (NPMD) report notes that “network performance is intertwined with the success of digital business. NPMD solutions are key to network visibility, performance issue detection and root cause analysis; but network complexity, moves to cloud-hosted workloads, endpoint diversity and software-defined architectures are challenges.”[2]
The PV solution, which will be renamed the SkyLIGHT™ PVX, complements Accedian’s SkyLIGHT™VCX active monitoring platform. The combined solutions bring complete visibility of all applications, transactions, and network components together, for the most complete view into end user experience, and its dependency on network and application health.
A 2017 year-end survey of Accedian customers highlighted that the PVX’s focus on monitoring SDN, cloud and virtual environments is a differentiator within the NPMD market. Its simplicity in deployment, training and use reduces total cost of ownership (TCO), while making its insights accessible to all IT departments as a hub for collaboration. Granularity and performance at scale, combined with an intuitive workflow and rapid visualization facilitates quick diagnosis of performance issues.
As outlined in the Magic Quadrant for Network Performance Monitoring and Diagnostics report, “Those that tend to invest broadly in packet and infrastructure monitoring solutions, often across different vendors, [but] still have issues with the consumability of their packet monitoring solution. This is exacerbated by increasing data center data rates, virtualization, cloud migration and encryption.”[2]
Accedian believes the change of ownership is not reflected in the capabilities that were assessed by Gartner, as the acquisition occurred outside the study period. Accedian’s significant engineering resources, international sales team, and analytics portfolio will complement the PV solution, providing a stronger ability to execute, and to fill in key capabilities, add innovation and vision to the solution, and ensure customers are supported globally.
“We consider our recognition in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for Network Performance Monitoring and Diagnostics as confirmation of our mission to provide enhanced end-to-end network, application and end-user experience visibility for both enterprise and communication service providers,” said Patrick Ostiguy, CEO of Accedian. “From our view, this is also a clear testament of the value which our recent acquisition of Performance Vision can deliver to both our existing and future customers.”
