These are exciting times for our industry. The demand for data is surging on the back of subscription video streaming, and we have set our sights on 1 Gigabit download speeds.

Consumer expectations have reached an all-time high, and the regulatory spotlight has shifted to broadband speed claims – placing Internet Service Providers (ISPs) under mounting pressure to deliver on their promises.

Consumer complaints have triggered public inquiries in Australia and the US; and the European Commission is targeting faster and higher quality broadband for all – forcing ISPs to provide accurate broadband speed and performance information.

ISPs are also required to put systems in place to identify problems – whether they be network, equipment or capacity related – and resolve broadband speed issues.

Now is the time to do it right, and deliver REAL broadband as promised. Push fibre further with Fibre to the Distribution Point (FTTdp)

The cost of a Fibre to the Premises (FTTP/FTTH) deployment is undeniably high – and almost doubles in the short stretch between the main network in the street and the front door of the premises.

Fibre to the Node (FTTN) offers an economical alternative, but the compromise is consistency and speed. A large portion of customer complaints come from the speed and performance drop off that occurs over the long length of copper that runs between the premises and the node.
While households within 400 meters of the cabinet may receive top speeds of up to 100Mbps, this can drop off to 50Mbps for premises located up to 800 meters away.

Specially engineered to provide a new approach, Fibre to the Distribution Point (FTTdp) is an economical innovation that can be rolled out just as fast as FTTN – but it delivers significantly superior throughput speeds and performance.

The trusted zone can be extended all the way to the pit, or pole, in the street using NetComm Wireless’ Distribution Point Units (DPUs) to link a single fibre connection to up to four copper lines to deliver superfast broadband and quality of service to multiple households.

nbn, the Government owned enterprise rolling out Australia’s national broadband network, appointed NetComm Wireless as its provider of 4-port DPUs to be used to deliver the nbnTM Fibre-to-the-Curb (FTTC) project which will supply an initial 700,000 premises using the existing copper line to deliver fast broadband over a short distance.
Built for installation inside sunken distribution pits, or on telegraph poles, NetComm Wireless’ hardened water, temperature and pressure proof DPUs withstand extreme conditions.

Extend trusted zone to the premises with 4G LTE Fixed Wireless

Australia’s nbn™ 4G LTE Fixed Wireless network successfully delivers broadband speeds reaching 50/20Mpbs to regional areas nationwide – and is set to launch 100/40Mbps services next year using Network Termination Devices (WNTDs) specially engineered by NetComm Wireless to deliver known performance and carrier-grade management to all the way to the premises.

NetComm Wireless’ WNTDs are professionally installed to guarantee the RF Link path between base station and the premises, offering the professional-grade installation features, tools and mechanical mounting methods needed for the nbn™ Fixed Wireless network to deliver known performance, network grade services and diagnostics, remote management and quality of service.

As a result, the nbn™ Fixed Wireless network is world leading, giving Australians “better speeds, higher data allowances and better value than users of other fixed wireless services across the world,” OVUM report, Fixed Wireless Broadband: A Global Comparison.
Reach Gigabit speeds the right way

NetComm Wireless CTO, Steve Collins, said: “Operators can no longer deliver a best endeavours service. Customer and regulators are placing responsibility on operators to guarantee the data speeds being advertised and so quality or service and network performance right to the end user become even more critical”.
