CFO steps up to top job as Furberg moves to digital business role at Telenor Asia.

Telenor Myanmar’s chief financial officer Lars Erik Tellmann will be promoted to the top job next month as his predecessor takes on a new role at the telco’s digital operations in Asia.

Tellmann has served as CFO in Myanmar since July 2013, over a year before the company brought its mobile services to market in the country.

He left the post of head of strategic development at Telenor Asia to join the Myanmar team. He has been with the Telenor group since 2001 and has held director and board member positions at a number of the group’s publicly-listed mobile operating companies in Asia, Telenor said.

"Lars Erik has been part of the founding management team in Myanmar, and has played a central role in the operations and development of the company over the past three years," said Telenor’s group CEO Sigve Brekke, describing the executive as "an experienced leader" to drive the company forward.

Tellmann himself said it is "an honour and a privilege" to lead Telenor Myanmar.

"Telenor has a solid market and network presence in Myanmar and with a proven strategy and business model we are well set-up for future growth," he said. "My job will be to deliver on this strategy alongside a talented leadership team, and a highly passionate group of colleagues."

Like Tellmann, outgoing CEO Petter Furberg has been in his post at Telenor Myanmar since the operation was formally established in July 2013.

He is moving on to a new position at Telenor Digital Businesses in Asia, where he will be charged with supporting business development within its Online Classifieds & Market places and Consumer services operations.
