Vendor’s connectivity management platform to serve all of telco’s operating businesses.

Cisco Jasper this week announced it has won a deal to supply VimpelCom with its IoT platform.

The agreement will see VimpelCom use Cisco Jasper’s Control Centre connectivity management platform across its global footprint. The operator can use the platform to underpin a broad range of IoT and M2M services, such as fleet management and smart metering, among others.

VimpelCom "is investing in new and innovative technologies that will enable our customers to fully embrace the digital economy, now and in the future. This partnership will provide our business customers with new technologies such as M2M and IoT," said Eugène Viskovic, VimpelCom’s chief business officer, in a statement on Thursday.

With Control Centre, VimpelCom’s enterprise customers will be able to remotely manage connected devices, and set up rules to control SIM activity, reduce data costs, and automate associated business processes.

Cisco Jasper has also partnered with 33 mobile operator groups, giving it exposure to more than 120 mobile networks worldwide, which means VimpelCom’s M2M and IoT customers can continue to be served beyond the telco’s footprint.

"Our collaboration with VimpelCom will enable enterprises to pioneer industry transformation, introduce new business models, and create never-before-seen, high-value experiences for their customers," said Kalle Ward, EMEAR managing director, IoT cloud, at Cisco Jasper.
