Altnet partners with business ISP Triangle Networks to drum up interest.
CityFibre on Thursday announced plans to launch in Bristol, as the alternative network provider begins to commercialise the fibre networks it acquired from Kcom in December.
The network is due to go live in February, at which point Bristol will become CityFibre’s latest self-styled ‘Gigabit City’.
The telco has signed up business services provider Triangle Networks as its launch partner. Under the deal, Triangle has committed to getting at least 100 new customers up and running on the new network by the end of the year.
"As this is a pure fibre network, Triangle will be launching services that are ‘Gigabit-speed-as-standard’, far faster than those possible on fibre-to-the-cabinet networks that are still restricted by the limitations of copper wires," said Paul Anslow, managing director of Triangle Networks, in a statement.
"This enables businesses to stop concerning themselves with bandwidth restrictions and start to make the most of new ways of working that will improve their experience and drive the bottom line," he said.
The 82km fibre network covers the city and surrounding areas, and was among the assets acquired by CityFibre from Kcom for £90 million in December.
"Less than a month after announcing our acquisition of Kcom’s networks, we have begun to commercialise them. As the U.K.’s largest alternative infrastructure provider, this is the first of many new Gigabit City launches to come on our expanded footprint of 36 cities across the U.K.," said CityFibre CEO Greg Mesch.
