Deutsche Telekom has made a €900 million offer for the 49% of Slovak Telekom it does not already own, Reuters reported on Wednesday, citing two Slovak government sources.
The state had planned to sell its shares in the telco via an initial public offering, but last week it cancelled the IPO, saying it had received a higher offer from a strategic investor. It did not name the bidder, but it was widely believed to be Deutsche Telekom.
The Slovak Telekom shares were to be priced at €17.7-€23.6 each, valuing the government’s stake at €750 million-€1 billion.
According to Reuters, the Slovak government will discuss Deutsche Telekom’s bid in the coming days.
There has been no official comment from any party.
