Press Release

The likely impact of Brexit on the digital economy will be discussed by Matt Hancock, the UK’s Digital and Culture Minister at Connected Britain – a two-day conference and exhibition dedicated to the country’s current state of connectivity and how it can be developed in the future.

Taking place at the Grange St Paul’s Hotel, in London, on Wednesday, June 14 and Thursday, June 15, Hancock will headline the conference which will also discuss the latest developments in 5G and fibre deployment, as well as the Government’s Universal Service Obligation.

Other leading names confirmed by event organiser Total Telecom include Openreach CEO Clive Selley, BDUK CEO Chris Townsend and CxO’s from Virgin Media, TalkTalk and CityFibre. Superfast Partners from Bedfordshire, Cheshire, Dorset, Essex, Suffolk and Yorkshire will also form part of the line-up.

“5G and fibre deployment are at the forefront of everyone’s minds as a central pillar of UK’s future economic prosperity,” said Rob Chambers, Managing Director at Total Telecom. “The Connected Britain conference will provide rounded coverage of all aspects related to Britain’s move towards a gigabit society.”

Now in its third year, Connected Britain has continued to gain momentum, with last year’s event attracting 35% more attendees than in 2015. A similar increase in the number of visitors is expected again at this year’s show.

Highlights of this year’s conference include a panel on realising the true potential of the UK’s digital economy, featuring Microsoft, BBC and Salesforce, as well as discussion around FTTdp deployment, with Greg Mesch, of City Fibre, due to present.

Ian Dabson from the Infrastructure & Projects Authority (HM Treasury) will also take part in the conference and provide an update on the broadband funds announced in the Autumn Statement.
