DOCOMO PACIFIC brings the future of 5G to Guam with the opening of Guam’s first 5G test lab and verification center. DOCOMO 5G Open Lab Guam is NTT DOCOMO INC.’s first 5G verification center outside of Japan.
DOCOMO PACIFIC, through its parent company NTT DOCOMO, will officially begin operations for DOCOMO 5G Open Lab Guam on March 27 at its Tamuning Headquarters.
DOCOMO 5G Open Lab Guam will allow worldwide partners including businesses on Guam to access the lab and Guam’s first 5G environment to co-create practical solutions dependent on 5G, to verify equipment and to engage in partner workshops. DOCOMO has over 2,400 members belonging to its DOCOMO 5G Open Partner Program and DOCOMO PACIFIC has contributed over 80 additional partners. Partners for Proof of Concept (PoC) and DOCOMO 5G Open Partner Program will be announced. All businesses and organizations are welcome to join at no cost and are invited to test and co-create 5G solutions with us in our 5G Open Lab.
Here are some notable features of DOCOMO 5G Open Lab Guam:
• Available for use by more than 2,400 partners participating in DOCOMO 5G Open Partner Program (OPP)
• Partners can conduct fast, cost-effective testing of new services compatible with 5G technologies and applications
• The 2,374 square foot lab features the lab space, meeting space, 5G solution showcase & demonstration space
• Discover the transformative capabilities of 5G and co-create solutions not limited to augmented and virtual reality, immersive training, telemedicine, education and beyond
• Secure, holding station for luggage, bags, and other materials for visiting partners
NTT DOCOMO operates three 5G Open Labs in Tokyo, Osaka and most recently in Okinawa, Japan. Development for DOCOMO 5G Open Lab Guam started in late January 2019 with remodeling completed in early March by local architect Taniguchi Ruth Makio Architects, contractor Future World Corporation and interior design partner M80 Systems. The new lab measures 2,374 square feet and occupies prime space within the DOCOMO PACIFIC Headquarters. This investment signifies our commitment to innovation on Guam and will transform the way we communicate and engage with the world around us.

5G, or the fifth-generation mobile technology, is engineered to greatly increase the speed and responsiveness of wireless networks while delivering much lower latency. DOCOMO PACIFIC through DOCOMO 5G Open Lab Guam and the DOCOMO 5G Open Partner Program announced important progress with its Proof of Concept program or PoC, aimed at developing practical solutions for social issues.
DOCOMO looks forward to welcoming global partners such as Sony and NS Solutions Corporation with Meritech & Space Entertainment Laboratory, along with local partners which include Guam Power Authority, Arluis Wedding Guam Corp, the United Airlines Guam Marathon Organizers and the University of Guam, all of whom have announced partnership agreements with DOCOMO to be among the initial group to utilize the island’s first 5G equipment and test environment within DOCOMO 5G Open Lab Guam.
