Ericsson on Monday extended its managed services deal with EE and 3UK’s network-sharing joint venture, MBNL, by a further three years.

The renewed agreement sees the Swedish kit maker’s role expanded to include network design, planning and deployment services. This is in addition to Ericsson’s continuing responsibility for delivering operation, transmission, performance, field service, and optimisation services.

"With this new contract the customers of EE and 3UK wi ll benefit from seamless coverage and capacity upgrades, and networks that are optimised and managed with minimal impact, coupled with price predictability," said MBNL managing director Pat Coxen, in a statement.

Ericsson said the renewed agreement is more outcome-based and customer-centric, providing clear accountability, increased agility and price predictability. The company said it will also adopt new ways of working when designing, planning and deploying MBNL’s radio access networks.

The aim is to also minimise disruption caused by future upgrades and improve the joint venture’s agility.

"Ericsson is proud to continue its long-standing relationship with MBNL as provider of managed services for design, planning and deployment supporting their ‘Best Network Strategy’," said Valter D’Avino, head of Western & Central Europe at Ericsson.
