Taiwan’s FarEasTone on Monday picked U.K.-based network monitoring specialist Mycom-OSI to help it keep tabs on the performance of its LTE network.
FarEasTone has around 1 million LTE subscribers. In the first quarter of 2015 it added around 550,000 new customers – approximately a 40% share of LTE net additions in Taiwan.
"As we continue to lead LTE rollout in Taiwan, we needed a network performance solution that did more than simply monitor performance but empowered our users to manage performance," said Brian Shean, director of network and service engineering at FarEasTone, in a statement.
LTE customers access a far broader range of online services compared to users on 3G networks, according to Mycom. This diversity in data traffic makes it more challenging for an operator to maintain a consistent quality of service. Consequently it becomes even more important to monitor network performance.
Unsurprisingly, this is where Mycom comes into play.
FarEasTone is deploying Mycom’s NIMS-PrOptima platform, which can analyse large volumes of performance, configuration and services data collected from access, backhaul and core networks in near real time, and is compatible with network equipment from multiple vendors. NIMS-PrOptima is being rolled out alongside Mycom’s NetExpert fault management solution.
"Having both our performance and fault management solutions deployed in a single customer environment takes us one step closer to realising our goals of delivering an integrated and unified service assurance solution," said Payam Taaghol, CEO of Mycom OSI.
