Press Release

Great Plains Communications, the largest independent telecommunications provider in the state of Nebraska, announces the promotion of Matt Reed from director of network engineering to senior sales engineer of wholesale services. In his new role, Reed will promote the Great Plains Communications 9,500-mile fiber network and related services to wholesale and carrier customers, support technical discussions and follow ups, and promote product and service upgrades to existing customers.

“We are excited to add Matt to our growing Wholesale team,” said Lynn Mead, head of carrier and wholesale services at Great Plains Communications. “Our expansive network and unique local access in the region continues to increase our visibility within the telecommunications industry. Matt’s extensive, hands-on knowledge of our regional fiber network will further enhance our efforts with carriers and service providers across Nebraska and the nation.”

Reed has been part of the Great Plains Communications family for 20 years. Starting as an intern while attending Southeast and Mid-Plains Community Colleges, Reed joined the telecommunications company full time after college. Through the years, he has worked in a variety of operations and engineering roles—from broadband tech to network transport manager. In 2015, Reed was appointed director of network engineering, managing the company’s regional fiber network.
