Press Release
Hillingdon Council has partnered with Hyperoptic, the UK’s largest exclusively full fibre Internet Service Provider, to provide upgraded broadband connectivity to its social housing properties across the borough.
This partnership covers all of Hillingdon Council’s social housing properties, which equates to over 11,000 homes. Hyperoptic will start its rollout by connecting 500 properties in the Northeast of the borough.
Hyperoptic was the first company to offer consumers full fibre broadband. Currently just 28 per cent of the UK has access to this gold-standard of broadband. As well as being up to 11x faster than the UK average, the service is reliable, no matter what time of day it is or how many devices are connected to the Internet.
Hyperoptic is rated ‘Excellent’ on TrustPilot with an average review score of 4.8 out of 5. The company is currently offering a promotion for three months free on its 24-month package and has the Hyperoptic ‘Fair Fibre Plan,’ which enables people on specific means-tested benefits to get access to discounted rates on its monthly rolling packages, with prices starting at £15 a month for a 50Mb service.
James Prowse, regional manager, social housing, Hyperoptic: “Fast and reliable broadband has never been more important. It’s a utility that everyone needs to effectively work, learn and socialise from home. We are committed to bringing an end to digital poverty and giving everyone the opportunity to benefit from the ‘full fibre’ difference. Councils have a really important role to play in enabling us to realise this vision and we thank Hillingdon Council for making this rollout possible.”
Cllr Douglas Mills, Hillingdon Council Cabinet Member for Corporate Services, said: "Our new partnership with Hyperoptic is another step forward in our ambition to make Hillingdon among the capital’s best-connected boroughs. We’re committed to working with willing partners to provide the best possible connections for residents.
“As more and more day-to-day services are delivered digitally, it’s vital we make available to residents the fastest, best connectivity, which will enable them to flourish.”
