Huawei on Tuesday said it has appointed company insider Vincent Pang as the new president of its Western Europe business, giving him the remit of building partnerships in the region.

Pang, who leaves his role as president of global sales and key accounts at the Chinese vendor, has been with the company since 1999, when he joined as a university graduate. He previously served as VP for Western Europe.

He replaces Kevin Tao, who has headed up Huawei’s Western Europe business for four years and will now take on a new position at the company’s headquarters in China. Huawei did not provide details of his new role.

Pang will be responsible for business development in Western Europe, including sales, marketing and operations, Huawei said.

"After working in Western Europe for many years, Vincent Pang has accumulated extensive experience in this market," said Eric Xu, Huawei’s deputy chairman and rotating CEO.

Xu started his latest six-month stint as Huawei chief executive on 1 April.

"I am excited to have been given the opportunity to lead Huawei’s strategic effort in Western Europe at such a crucial time," Pang said.
