HUBER+SUHNER Cube Optics, the global supplier of efficient optical access solutions, today announced it has been recognised in the 2019 Lightwave Innovation Reviews program for its CUBO Mini 100G Optical Multi-Purpose Tool.
The CUBO Mini 100G product is a compact, stand-alone optical demarcation device for 100G solving a multitude of challenges. Taking advantage of the wide variety of 100G QSFP28 transceivers and covering different distances up to 25km, the solution has two QSFP28 slots implementing a layer 1 optical conversion between the two slots. This approach not only makes the setup simple but also enables full transparency of all higher levels including OTU4 at the lowest possible latency.
Its capability to allow a customer to use the client optics of their choice while giving the network provider the option to all available optics in a small form factor was one of the features highlighted by the Lightwave judges in the review process.
“We are thrilled to have been recognised in the prestigious Lightwave Innovation awards for our work in optical transport systems,” said GM HUBER+SUHNER Cube Optics, Thomas Paatzsch. "100Gig optical access networks have been overlooked – until now. Thanks to our CUBO Mini 100G, service providers no longer have to deploy expensive transponders and CFP transceivers, but can now use a variety of QSFP28 transceivers to lower cost of 100Gig service delivery to their customers."
The Innovation Reviews are judged based on the following criteria:
• Positive impact on the customer
• How well it addresses a new or existing requirement
• Novelty of approach
"On behalf of the Lightwave Innovation Reviews, I would like to congratulate our honorees," said Lightwave Group Publisher Alan Bergstein. "This prestigious program allows Lightwave to celebrate and recognize the most innovative products and solutions in the optical networking industry. Our 2019 Honorees are an outstanding example of companies who are making an impact."
Presented annually by Lightwave, the Lightwave Innovation Reviews program distinguishes top products and solutions available within the optical networking industry as determined by a stellar panel of third-party judges. Judges include industry executives and analysts from a wide variety of service providers, technology developers, industry analysts, and journalists.
