Press Release
ITP and Vorboss have joined forces on a drive to recruit 150 Installation Technicians this year, half of whom will be women.
ITP CEO Crissi Williams explains: “Our industry faces a digital skills gap and desperately needs more skilled professionals to meet future challenges. We’re seeing a decrease in the number of young people studying STEM subjects, and still witnessing a large gender disparity in those seeking and applying for digital roles. The current workforce is not representative of wider society. We’re on a mission with Vorboss to create greater equality in the UK tech industry.”
Vorboss is a leading enterprise-focused fibre provider, and already employs a substantial team of apprentices. ITP runs an apprenticeship scheme on behalf of its partners which recruits, trains and mentors apprentices. It will work with Vorboss to recruit apprentices, promoting the message through an extensive social media campaign and working alongside partners such as FibrePeople.
Tim Creswick, CEO at Vorboss added: “We have already welcomed eight female apprentices this year – women who hadn’t previously considered a career in telecoms. We are running open days where potential applicants can come along to see what the role involves and meet the team before applying. The majority of open days attendees have applied for roles in the business as a result. This initiative will build the future leaders and the next generation of our industry.”
The Customer Connections Specialist apprentices are offered:
• £150 training bursary to cover their first four weeks in the Vorboss Training Academy which covers everything from health and safety to fibre splicing training.
• 18-month apprenticeship scheme with career progression offered at the end.
• Flexible hours and opportunities.
