Telco press plays another round of ‘Where’s Weldon?’ after Alcatel-Lucent CTO’s name is absent from list.
Nokia late last week confirmed its leadership team and board members following its acquisition of Alcatel-Lucent.
As previously announced, Nokia staff comprise the vast majority of the combined company’s senior management (see below for the full list). In fact, the only new member of Nokia’s c-suite to have come from Alcatel-Lucent was absent from the list, which was released on Friday.
Marcus Weldon, CTO of Alcatel-Lucent and president of Bell Labs, is set to continue in his current role at Bell Labs and become CTO of Nokia, according to Alcatel-Lucent in mid-November.
A Nokia spokeswoman has since confirmed to Total Telecom that this is still the case.
Meanwhile, Nokia confirmed that Risto Siilasmaa will continue to serve as chairman of the company’s 10-member board, while new members joining from Alcatel-Lucent’s board include Louis R. Hughes, Jean C. Monty and Olivier Piou, who has been named vice chairman.
Friday’s announcement was made the same week that Nokia took control of Alcatel-Lucent following the completion of a public exchange offer that saw the Finnish vendor acquire close to 80% of Alcatel-Lucent’s share capital.
