Nokia Networks on Tuesday announced that it has inked a contract to supply TD-LTE-Advanced technology and services to China Mobile, including base stations, small cell kit, network planning and optimisation and systems integration.
The vendor will form part of China Mobile’s project to roll out 1 million TD-LTE base stations by the end of this year.
It claims to have the largest share of the project of any non-Chinese vendor, but did not give further specifics about the size of the contract.
This latest deal between the two companies marks the third phase of China Mobile’s TD-LTE rollout.
"This new TD-LTE-Advanced deal is a big achievement that makes us the number one non-Chinese network vendor in China for the third year in a row," said Mike Wang, Nokia Networks’ president of Greater China, in a statement.
"We are proud to support China Mobile with this network expansion project, further building on over 20 years of partnership," Wang said.
China Mobile, the world’s biggest mobile operator by subscribers, ha d signed up 189.66 million 4G customers at the end of August, having almost doubled its subscriber base with the addition of almost 106 million connections in just six months.
The telco’s overall customer base stood at over 820 million.
