Swiss mobile operator names former Google executive as its new leader.
Salt on Monday named Andreas Schönenberger as its new chief executive.
The Swiss mobile operator has been without a permanent CEO since Johan Andsjö turned in his resignation in early December. Pierre-Alain Allemand has been holding the reins on an interim basis since then.
Schönenberger’s appointment is effective from 15 March.
He will bring with him experience from inside and outside the technology space. He is currently president of the Swiss mobile association, known locally as Smama, and a board member at mobile phone retailer and reseller mobilezone, but will step down before starting his new role.
Previous roles include serving as general manager of Google Switzerland.
"I am very excited to take up this new challenge and to lead and support Salt and its team to the next level of growth," Schönenberger said, in a statement.
"And I am thrilled to have an experienced and successful entrepreneur as [a] shareholder with a long-term perspective," he added.
Said entrepreneur is Xavier Niel, who paid 2.8 billion Swiss francs (€2.3 billion) for the telco – then known as Orange Switzerland – via his NJJ Capital outfit in early 2015. The operator adopted the Salt brand in April last year.
"Since NJJ acquired Salt, we have been working at re-engineering the company from the ground up," Niel said on Monday.
"I am convinced that by appointing Andreas as CEO of Salt we have a strong management team to execute our strategy of profitable growth and innovation in Switzerland," he added.
