Bouygues Telecom on Friday reported a 4% rise in third quarter revenue driven by encouraging customer additions at both its mobile and fixed divisions.

During the three months to 30 September, the French operator added 208,000 mobile customers, givi ng it a total of 11.6 million, up from 11 million a year earlier. At the end of the quarter, Bouygues Telecom had 4.6 million 4G customers, or 46% of its mobile base, compared to 26% at the end of Q3 2014.

"Bouygues Telecom’s 3G and 4G customers are the biggest consumers of mobile internet in France, representing 27% of total French mobile traffic," said Bouygues, in a statement.

Meanwhile on the fixed side, Bouygues Telecom’s broadband customer base increased by 94,000 to 2.7 million during the quarter.

Bouygues Telecom also reported slight improvements in third quarter ARPU at both the fixed and mobile businesses, with mobile ARPU increasing to €23.30 from €22.90 a year ago, and fixed ARPU growing to €29.40 from €28.60.

The combination of stable ARPU and a growing customer base helped Bouygues Telecom grow third quarter revenue year-on-year to €1.16 billion from €1.12 billion, while EBITDA increased to €242 million from €221 million.

Net profit at Bouygues Telecom inched up to €18 million from €17 million in Q3 2014.
