Alexandra Reich to join Telenor Hungary on or before 1 November, as Christopher Laska takes Asian role.

Telenor on Wednesday announced it has appointed a new chief executive at its Hungarian business.

Alexandra Reich, currently head of enterprise mobility at Swisscom, will join Telenor Hungary on or before 1 November.

She will replace Christopher Laska, who will become SVP of board governance and partner relations, Asia, supporting Telenor’s board of directors at its Asian business units, the operator said. Laska has served as CEO of Telenor Hungary since the start of 2011, having previously been chief executive of the operator’s Montenegro business and head of corporate affairs at Telenor Serbia.

Austrian-born Reich brings her experience in Switzerland and other markets to her new role. She took on her current post at Swisscom in 2014, having been with the company since 2009. She joined the telecoms industry in 2001 and has held senior positions at Viag Interkom (now Telefonica Germany), T-Online Austria, 3 Austria and Sunrise.

"After many years in telco, working with challengers in Germany, Austria and seven years with the Swiss incumbent, I felt it was time to take this exciting opportunity," Reich said, in a statement.

"My expertise has always been in marketing and sales and within the last years I have learned a lot about customer experience design and the power of customer centricity, especially in the digital world," she added.

Telenor claims to have a share of around 30% of the Hungarian mobile market, with a customer base of 3.2 million as of Q2 this year.
